Zombie Walk Detroit Wholly dedicated to scaring up zombie adventure at any given moment
.
Zombie Walk Detroit invaded Downtown Ferndale- 10/26/2008 We made Gleaners PROUD!
(actually, we made them yell, "no WAY! that's GREAT!!" It made our day!)
Donations of non-perishable food items: 1,018 POUNDS! Equivalent to 783 meals!
Donations of funds: $2,129.39 Equivalent to 6,387 meals
So stand TALL and PROUD, Zombies! From what we hear from Gleaners and the It's Alive Show (who organized the troops around the world on this day) that is an AMAZING TOTAL! We ROCK! A lot!
At least 183 ZOMBIES (& 2 zombie dogs!) WALKED (178 of whom were officially registered for the Guinness Book)
Walkers, spectators and photographers managed to bring in over TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS and over ONE THOUSAND POUNDS of food!
WOW!
(exact amounts
are above!)
We can't thank everyone enough-
especiallyAmanda Hopkins! She was the winner of the GRAND PRIZE for most pledges, bringing in a stunning$542.25 in cash & checks for Gleaners! Way to GO, Amanda!!
Other fun prizes were to be won by random walkers, like more gift certificates from Mother Fletcher's and The Record Collector, prize packs from Detroit Comics & American Pop, a few REALLY kick ass zombie posters from Zombie Reporting Center (and a T-shirt, too!), hats, T-Shirts & posters from Left 4 Dead, & zombie button packs & jugs of blood from ZWD. Along with our grand prize winner Amanda- another lucky winner also won a walk-on spot on Nightmare Sinema!
SOME OF THE MANY PHOTOS FROM WORLD ZOMBIE DAY!
~ ENJOY ~
Huge thanks! Wolfman Mac of Nightmare Sinema& Tracey of Detroit MetroMix, who were our weird and wonderful witnesses for the Guinness Book entry!
Viscera-filled victory to Sarah & Lisa for rockin' the registration table & doing the math on those many pledge sheets!!
Kreepy kudos to Chris for frightful filming and photography!!
We'd like to thank our main sponsors again. Without them, why... we likely wouldn't have posters. Or fliers. Or prizes.
Yep! We'd pretty much be miserable. So go in and give them the business! Or rather- give them SOME business. Woo! Click 'em for more info.
- Amanda. Again, dear, you ROCKED our zombie socks off. Not only are you a nicey, but holy CRAP did you work overtime on getting pledges. We hope you know how wonderful that is. Really. Can you even grasp how many people will EAT because of your hard work and your sponsors' generosity? You are their zombie angel.
So there.
Yep. $542.25 in pledges Amanda raised. Nice, eh?
Very.
- Theweather. It was supposed to be storming and plagued with wind gusts up to FIFTY miles an hour. Instead? Beautiful. Warm. Sunny. Mild.
THANKS to AJ's Cafe for letting us put a canopy up on their back porch, juuuuuust in case the raindrops came and we needed to protect the sign-in sheets and pledge forms. VERY cool of them.
- Thehearses. If we'd known you were coming we could have incorporated a little somthin' somethin' in there. Next time. Nice rides & great to see you there!
Last but in NO way least- again,
- The pledges and food drive. As a zealous zombie team, we managed to compile over $2100.00 and over 1,000 pounds of food for the hungry. That, in our book, is the icing on the zombie cake. We were really impressed with everyone's dedication. Thank you.
Thanks to all who participated for making this such a GREAT time!
We absolutely cannot wait to see you again at our next event!
