5th ANNUAL WORLD ZOMBIE DAY
-ZOMBIE WALK AGAINST HUNGER-

World Zombie Day 2012 took place in downtown Royal Oak and was again a food & fund drive to benefit Gleaners!
Despite the rains and the threat of severe weather, around 360 DIE HARD zombies showed up to support the zombie community AND Gleaners Community Food Bank. It's so much fun seeing the creative genius behind everyone's look. Among the horde we had old fashioned zombies, TV show zombies, kids, adults, lawyers, musicians, a fire chief, babies, dogs, a couple of policemen, and some pretty impressive zombie hunters, too! Nice, but the fact that everyone came together to support Gleaners? Even better!
Registration was packed with zombies dropping off food and funds and entering to win concert tickets! Somehow, Lisa, Kathie, Mays, Jim and Mike kept things running smoothly. Thanks, guys! Thanks too, to Bridgette from Gleaners for being there to load up the truck with the bags of food pouring in.

1,441 POUNDS!

Cash and checks brought in by the zealous zombies totaled a fantastic $4,216.25.

If any other donations of food or funds come in late, we'll update the numbers, but as of now, those are the totals. Wowie!
THANKS SO MUCH to everyone who so generously donated and/or worked ot collect donations. We are absolutely astounded at what can be accomplished when we all come together like this.
This years top fundraiser was Kathie Ramsey, who brought in a whopping $1,073. Highlights from her well-deserved prize package included gift certificates from Noir Leather and Lift, a hand-made zombie quarantine sign from the Motor City Haunt Club, stickers from 734 Designs, t-shirts from 'The Walking Dead' as well as the 1st and 2nd season on DVD, various haunted house tickets, and a life sized wooden coffin from Zombie Walk Detroit. Thanks Kathie, you're awesome! Everyone's hard work will provide many meals for many hungry people. You did a GREAT job!
